The Australian Government requires that you have continuous OSHC for the entire length of your stay in Australia unless an exception applies. So when you purchase OSHC, you will need to pay your policy premium upfront to cover you for the length of the student visa you are applying for.

If you are not insured with Allianz, you need to contact your OSHC provider directly for details of their refund policy and process. The Department of Health provides a list of all insurers who offer OSHC. As it is a condition of the Student Visa that OSHC must be maintained while studying in Australia, Allianz Global Assistance may provide the Department of Home Affairs with the name and contact details of the Member who has cancelled his or her Policy or whose premium has been refunded.
